Early Years Foundation Stage

Welcome to Ladybird and Bumblebee Class.  Our teachers are Mrs Albiston and Miss Edwards.

In our Foundation Stage children love to learn through play and other exciting learning experiences, such as welly walks around our school.  We have interesting and inspiring learning environments, inside and outside, which children have access to all day.

Children learn new sounds every week and enjoy using them in their writing and reading.  They take home reading books and a library book to share with their families every week.  Children learn their maths through Maths Makes Sense - find out more on our curriculum page as well as in the below document.

With the introduction of the Universal Infant Free School Meals, all our infant children enjoy a hot meal cooked on our premises.  Children share their share their lunchtime play with the whole school, which means that they get to see their friends from other classes and are able to play with the PlayPod.  All children in our Foundation Stage have a buddy from Year 6 who helps them get to know the schools and playgrounds and to feel part of the ‘Moorlands Family’.

At various times throughout the year parents are invited in to see what the children are learning and how they can help at home.  We run parent workshops on supporting your children in learning to read and helping them in their maths.

Children in our Foundation Stage enjoy taking part in whole school events such as visits to school from theatre companies, assemblies and celebrations.
