Our Learning Campus

In January 2011, after 50 years of operating as separate schools, Moorlands Infant School and Moorlands Junior School were united under the leadership of one Headteacher and became a Federation.

Our Federation is situated on a very large and beautifully green site in south Bath.  The site sits between Englishcombe Lane and Moorfields Road and has stunning views across the world heritage city of Bath.

Our schools were built within what used to be the grounds of Moorlands, a 19th century property with a six storey tower that still stands today.  Moorlands was once the home of Anna Sewell, author of Black Beauty, and it was said that her writing was greatly inspired by the views at Moorlands.  Black Beauty of course therefore takes pride of place on our school logo.

Children at our Federation use both of our school sites as one large learning campus.  With an amazing amount of space both indoors and outdoors, we are able to create interesting and exciting environments for our children to explore and use for learning, sport and play.

Our children have access to 4 playgrounds, playing and sports fields, woodland and nature areas, such as a pond, butterfly garden and orchard.  Within our playgrounds, children have play equipment and a Playpod. Our Foundation Stage children also benefit from covered space outside of their classrooms, meaning that they are able to move freely inside and out whatever the weather.

Within our two buildings, children have spacious and refurbished classrooms, two large halls, a permanent stage area, two libraries and two food technology rooms.  With a commitment to giving every child a modern education we integrate ICT into all subject areas as well as teaching it as a discrete subject.  Children are able to use a fully equipped ICT suite as well as using Fizz Books, Chromebooks, cameras and visualizers to support their learning in the classroom.

We are proud to offer school meals cooked on the premises which children can enjoy in one of our two dining halls.

Bath YMCA run an after school and breakfast club in our schools, which is used by children both in our schools and in other local schools.  They also offer a holiday club during school holidays.  Please see their website for further information.
